EU environmental claims · WordPress + WooCommerce

Do you know where all your environmental claims are live?

From 27 September 2026, Directive (EU) 2024/825 starts applying across the EU. For WordPress and WooCommerce teams, one practical challenge comes before legal review: finding every environmental claim already published across products, pages and content, then keeping the evidence and review context connected.

The regulation is only part of the problem.

Environmental wording can be scattered across WooCommerce product descriptions, landing pages, blog posts, SEO fields and older campaign content. Before a team can decide whether wording is appropriate, sufficiently supported or needs specialist review, it needs a reliable inventory of what is actually live.

That is an operational governance problem: discovery, evidence, ownership, review history and monitoring all need to stay connected as content changes.

ClaimPrism does not certify environmental claims and does not provide a legal compliance verdict. It helps WordPress and WooCommerce teams find claims and organize the review, evidence and monitoring work around them.

A practical readiness sequence for WordPress teams.

Keep the first pass operational. The goal is to know what is live and create a repeatable process around it.

01 / FIND

Inventory live claims

Identify environmental marketing language across WordPress and WooCommerce content instead of relying on memory or one-off spreadsheets.

02 / CONNECT

Attach evidence and context

Keep supporting material, ownership, reviewed wording and lifecycle information connected to the claim being assessed.

03 / GOVERN

Review and monitor over time

Record review decisions, watch for wording changes and surface claims that need re-review as content evolves.

What changed in the EU?

Directive (EU) 2024/825 amends EU consumer-protection rules, including the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, with measures intended to strengthen protection against greenwashing and improve information for consumers. The European Commission states that Member States had until 27 March 2026 to transpose the Directive and that it applies from 27 September 2026.

The Commission's June 2026 Questions & Answers also states that, from that date, traders need to ensure environmental claims and sustainability labels used in business-to-consumer contexts comply with the new provisions, including for existing products.

This page is about the operational task of finding and governing claims in WordPress. It is not a substitute for legal advice about whether a particular claim is permitted in a particular jurisdiction or context.
